As James and I wrap up our time with Shel Silverstein's last book- Everything on It, I am constantly thinking about what legacy I will be living behind. What will my boys remember about me? Shel left behind 1500 poems- his family chose 145 to go in this book.
Words matter. There is a quote that I always whisper inside my brain when things start to heat up. It says that, "people may not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." So when lifes troubles start to double, then triple and you walk around feeling like this guy:
I can't help but think about the words I use- the words I say out loud to my family, friends, students and even myself. Happy Monday, be kind to yourself this week.
